A Kind Man

A new opera by Jonathan Finney based on Dame Susan Hill’s novel

“This is going to be wonderful. I am so proud of what Jonathan has done to transform a novel into something quite new.” – Dame Susan Hill

In the autumn of 2020, Finney completed his operatic re-telling of Susan Hill’s 2011 story A Kind Man. The composer conducted the London Concertante, with a cast of established and in-demand singers at London’s famous Hoxton Hall on 7, 8, 10 and 12 June, 2022. These performances met with great success with our audiences, as you can read on our What they said page.

You can hear two recordings from the opera performed by Rebecca Afonwy-Jones and Simon Grange, together with the London Concertante.

We are extending our crowdfunding campaign to support our new Development Fund to bring this opera to wider audiences and you are all invited to contribute and be part of this project.
